Re: Best of 2007
Haha. Troo, troo. We all were supposed to submit out top 20 lists by December 23rd, and darkreif was away, so he didn't submit his.
Re: Best of 2007
hahaha....I see I see.
I'm gonna be a writer for MMFE when the site launches, hopefully.

Re: Best of 2007
I agree with darkreifs list. Except for the number one.
Anyways the other list was bad. Arch Enemy's new cd wasn't even in the top 100 for me.

All the ones I heard of that you haven't. Bolded are the ones I have. I personally recommend the album by Rosetta, similar to Isis I suppose you could say. A Post-Metal/Sludge/Experimental type band. Architect is also very good, and The End as well actually.
Re: Best of 2007
You may be mistaking them with Architects though. I have the 2007 album by both bands, and both are good. Very similar bands also, strange enough.
Re: Best of 2007
I dunno...mebbe
I don't pay attention, and I don't have the album itself, so I wouldn't know. Sounds familiar as all hell though

Re: Best of 2007
Ólafur Arnalds' "Eulogy For Evolution" and "Variations Of Static EP" are now officially in my top 50 at least, the former of which could be top 20 or higher.
Re: Best of 2007
And so, the almost completely unheard-of Ólafur Arnalds makes it onto two (maybe more soon) MMFE members' best of 2007 lists.
Everlost and Advent would dig this too methinks. I sent it to Garrett, and saw you sent it to Everlost. IT SPREADS.

Re: Best of 2007
My best friend was over last night, and he put it on his iPod because he said he wanted some Ambient stuff. I hadn't heard it yet, but I told him that it was good
Sooo...I know he'll like it.

Re: Best of 2007
Hahah, nice. This is the shit people in America need to hear more of, damnit. Enough with the generic cookie-cutter stuff already.
Re: Best of 2007
I'm all for listening to whatever you enjoy, even if I don't like it (or despise it), but come on, there's got to be at least SOME variety. I have no idea how people can listen to only Green Day, Fall Out Boy, Panic! At The Disco, and The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and be content, or even be able to say "Music is my life" with a straight face. You know nothing about music. Find something different, you don't need to abandon what you already like, just reach out to somewhere. If you reach, you might grab a hold of something that truly touches you, and with that new firm grasp in place, you can reach out further and further.
Sorry for the rant, got caught up in the climax of "14:40".

Re: Best of 2007
You're a couple minutes ahead of me
=]
But yea...I agree completely with you. I hate to see/hear people say "Music is my life", when they can't even play music or an instrument. Or even the ones that can, but still only listen to a max of 10 different bands.
Its fucking retarded to say that if you're not pursuing a career in music, which wopuld advocate music being your life.

Re: Best of 2007
I know what you mean. I used to work with some kid who always wore a Green Day t-shirt. He told me that music was his life, and when I asked him what he played he actually said "I only have a Playstation 2". No word of a lie.
Re: Best of 2007
Haha. He asked me to jam with him about a month later--he's a bassist, and an awful one at that. He's really cocky about it too--he thinks he is a musical god.
