Rape Of A Classic 11%

This release is horrible. It's like they sat together and we're wondering how they could destroy a classic metal song. Now I can go on and on and on about how much this sucks, but instead I'll start with the good points.

The drumming had it's moments. There is no denying that the drummer has got skills and knows what he is doing. It only a shame that he ruins it with the generic -core-ish drumming.

With the vocals I have a love/hate relationship. I like the more heavy metal vocals, but than the -core screams are just terrible. If they didn't added those screams it would be much better, still bad but better. Also the -core-ish echo when he sings the words Holy Diver isn't cool, but just pure annoying.

Now as a guitar fan I can say that it was just awfull. The opening riff is a watered down version of the original and than after the intro it sounds like every other -core riff you can hear it's the song Holy Diver, but if you didn't know it was a cover you would just be thinking it's a random -core song. Than the solo is just uninspired garbage. The riffs after the solo are again random -core riffs. They also use some weird high notes just on random spots that sound idiotic and out of place.

Last but not least the bass... whatever happend to the bass??? I turn the volume up, turn the treble down and put bass on 100%, but I can't hear it. Maybe since I'm not a big bass fan I just can't hear, but most of the time when the volume is up, treble down and bass 100%, I hear the bass playing, but not on this song.

Well that all I have to say about it, my advice don't buy it.

I thought it was a good modern twist on the classic song, but I seem to be the only metalhead who thinks so. Haha. Oh well.

This isn't the final review yet. After re-reading it I'm thinking of adding some stuff, deleting some stuff and some minor changes.

i didn't think it was that bad, but there's still no competition to DIO.

that's perfectly fine. speak your mind and dont hesitate make your opinions known. you have the right to your opinion and to disagree with what people think. thats how the exchange of ideas goes. i personally prefer the DIO version, thats just my opinion.

Lol I read that review before on M-A. Had no clue it was you HB. Anyways I love the song. It may just be my gayness for KSE, but it was just awesome.

I too possess this gayness you speak of. I love them to death, and I doubt I'll stop anytime soon. And the video for this song is lolzeriffic.

I know you all want my professional opinion so here it is: It is not bad, not bad at all. You just have to see it as a KA song and no longer as a dio song. Of course the dio version is the best. (great live as well). KA did a good job.

Now after all this there is only one complaint left. It doesn't sound like the original. You can hear it's a cover, but besides the intro, outro and lyrics nothing is like the original. Now I don't mind adding your own style to a cover, but they just took it way too far with this one.

Well that's all I have to say about it. My advice: don't buy, not even download it, cause it's just a waste of free hard-drive space. If you really want to know how it sounds look the video up on youtube.

I like the song - i thought it was an interesting take on a classic. Of course I would go gay for Dio and I'm not even that big of a KsE fan. I thought it was the best song writing I've heard from the band Razz
