Everlost wrote:Apparently there is already a new Folkearth album. Downloading now, I hope it's better then Drakkars.
Edit: Well, it isn't. The first two will remain the only two good albums by them.
I thought it was alright.
Re: Albums for 08
The production was quite crappy again and I don't like the growled vocals at all. I'll stick to By the Sword...
And I just read Darkthrone already finished recording 4 songs for their new album which won't be punkish at all but metal to the bone. I'm really curious and looking forward to that. I liked the punk stuff, but this sounds very interesting. I hope they'll be able to release it somewhere this year.
(And it also explains why Splitkein Fever had a total different recording sound, they happen to record in bits and pieces.)

Re: Albums for 08
They better make it "metal to the bone". "The church of real metal" wasn't as metal as it could get.

Haha, that song is some good old school hard rock fun.
I'm now listening to new songs by Gorath ( http://www.myspace.com/gorathblackmetal ) and it sounds really good, some interesting proggy BM. I need to try to get the other two albums and look forward to the new one.

Re: Albums for 08
Oooh i've been looking forward to this album. As soon as i saw Progressive BM i knew i had to listen to it. Any news on when its out?Everlost wrote:I'm now listening to new songs by Gorath ( http://www.myspace.com/gorathblackmetal ) and it sounds really good, some interesting proggy BM. I've had a day packed with 08 goodness. I listened to five 08 albums today and they all left a good impression on me, which is unusual coz im very critical on the first impression. But they all came through with the goods.
Pest - Rest In Morbid Darkness Labeled as Raw Black Metal by MA, but honestly there wasnt anything too raw about these guys. Maybe over time they've become less raw but when i think of raw i think Alcest's Tristesse Hivernale. And it was A lil bit too punky at times for my liking, but besides that it was quite enjoyable.
Fuck Buttons - Street Horrrsing Now this was pretty much as good as i expected. I loved every second of it. Its so difficult to describe their sound though....the best i can do is think of a mix between 65daysofstatic (their electro vibe) and The Angelic Process (their droney/noise vibe). Essential listening for anyone into experimental music.
Ef - I Am Responsible Surprisingly pleasant. There were some great melodies, some very suited vocals. I can see this one growing on me over a little bit more time.
Brain Drill - Apocalyptic Feasting Br00tul haha. I really enjoyed this album. It was a nice break from my usual tastes.
Nortt - Galgenfrist Just utterly depressing. For those who don't know Nortt is like Thergothon x 10 mixed with uber depressive black metal. This ones gonna need a bit more attention for it to fully sink in but so far its a winner.
And im currently listening to Nadja - Bliss Torn From Empitness (Re-Recording) and so far its blowing my mind. I havent heard the original so i cant really compare but so far this is classic Nadja. A little bit faster then usual, not so much riffs that last up to 30 seconds, more chaotic. After this i've also got Ossein - Declination to listen to. so ill update more a bit later
I can feel it. This year is going to be amazing.
Lastly, Virgin Black's new album has leaked. im not a fan, but i reckon there are a few bound to be hear.

Re: Albums for 08
It should be out somewhere in April. And you're all welcome. I can't really say I'm impressed by the songs of older albums, but I really like the two new songs.October's Advent wrote:Oooh i've been looking forward to this album. Oooh, me likes. Reminds me a lot of Darkthrone's Sardonic Wrath, which is a good thing.October's Advent wrote:Pest - Rest In Morbid Darkness Labeled as Raw Black Metal by MA, but honestly there wasnt anything too raw about these guys. Re: Albums for 08
Im sure the music will be great, but those titles all look a little dodgy. Especially the album title. Thats pretty shocking imo I guess the song titles are fairly Opethy. But yeah really looking forward to this one, but i hope the album title changes.Everlost wrote:And last: The new Opeth cd has a title:Watershed

^ I know, and I like it.
I don't think it will change tbh, and the title doesn't bother me at all actually. The music will be great and that's more important.October's Advent wrote:Im sure the music will be great, but those titles all look a little dodgy. Especially the album title. Re: Albums for 08
Only the best Doom(/Death) metal band to ever exist. I've been waiting for this album for at least 3 years. It was rumoured they were going to release it last year but it never happened, but 2008 is the year!!!

Oh. Well. still. I can't wait for Cephalectomy. I bet it's going to be more brutal than that best doom/death metal band. =D
